Windsurfing: Felixstowe Dip Wind Direction: SW Wind Stength: F4/5 Surf / Sea State: wavy lumpy Air Temperature: ok Sea Temperature: ok Weather: rainy Max Speed: 22.65 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 7.9Nm (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Didn't see any forecast about wind dropping in the afternoon so ambled down
around 11.30 and that was too late really. Some were wallowing on 5.0, but
said they wind would be back. Swainey went on 5.4 and looked well powered
at times and I should have done the same really but rigged 6.2 on the 104
Fanatic wave.
I was under the whole way out and struggle in on the first run. Waited and
the wind did come back blowing me off the water. It stayed up but didn't go
out till it drop. Should have rigged 5.5 I guess, but would have struggled
on the fanatic. Took out the JP 120 in the lulls, but was too big for the
sea. Switched to the Fanatic and the poxy wind dropped again, which was
knackering. There must have been 20 sailors out all appearing to have a 5
star day except me!.
Big loser was Phil who rocked up an hour later than me and yep the rain
came and the wind died and swung off, catching at least 5/6 of them for the
long swim.
That's normally me but I no longer sail in rain cos that always happen.
I tried the waste harness again and really struggled holding the sail and
it gave me a massive backache. Switch to the seat harness and all was fine
- so that's the end of my waste harness experiment. If you have back issues
never wear a waste harness, that will aggravate it. Look out for it on Ebay
:)
The day was 5**** but I wasn't!
